Customer Reviews
You get what you pay for! Spacious, clean and good airflow in the room! Everything works. Staff is friendly. The buildings interior is amazing. Yes you can hear sounds from the outside, unless you are extremely sensitive, it wont bother you. Feels like a safe hotell to be in. Probably the best hotell in the area at this price point. Just slightly unclean. And the bathtub leaks water after usage. We got stuck with a special toilet where you need pull a lever 10-15 times to flush, it is a bit of a hassle.. But all the pros make up for it.
Slow service, but can’t complain too much since I only paid £43 for 1 night as a solo traveler. Beautiful on the outside, beautiful reception area too. Unfortunately was given a room on the ground floor which I was bummed out about because I wanted to be able to go up and down the stairs because it’s a lovely view. Whatever, parked that to side. Got into the room which is located in the far corner, extremely cold. No lights, only two lamps in the room, very outdated - portable fan and heater in the room. Very noisy, can hear all the traffic from outside. Paper thin walls, can hear two guests on one side slamming their doors when leaving and entering. And a group of 3/4 Indian guys talking very loudly and laughing on the other side. Location is great for the day & getting around. But soon becomes a nightmare at night on a weekend, couldn’t fall asleep till 3am due to loud music, police cars going up and down & drunks screaming and shouting. Didn’t help that the bed was also so noisy and uncomfortable. Definitely would not stay here again!
I can't understand why this stunning hotel has only 3 stars! I was completely enchanted, just standing in front of this very old building with its wealth of ornate detailing and its very interesting history. I was blown away by the enormous chandelier in the lobby and highly ornate and unusual stairs and stair bridges. You can learn about the history in various places throughout the hotel. I had a good look around and was captivated! I was fortunate enough to see it in its full Christmas glory aswell. Fitting that the Nutcracker soldiers guard the stairs. The hotel was very, very clean, very atmospheric (!). Very warm and inviting. My room had everything I needed and the bar was very relaxed and lovely, unusual with its interesting features and spacious like the rest of the hotel. The staff are helpful and polite. Check in and out was easy. What more could you need? I would definitely recommend and would absolutely stay there again.
