Customer Reviews
A great hotel in a perfect location. We selected this hotel based on its close proximity to Piccadilly station and its within walking distance to Etihad Stadium. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful especially the staff in the breakfast restaurant. Speaking of breakfast, it was fantastic. The selection was the same each day but the quality was high. And the coffee was most excellent. We also took advantage of the bar too! The bartender was very nice and friendly. The bar itself is spacious with ample sitting space with plenty of TVs to watch sports. Our room itself was clean and comfortable. I do wish the closet was larger but not a big deal. Overall, I highly recommend this Double Tree and hope to be back soon.
We’ve just returned from a two-day stay here. The location is great—only a five to ten minute walk from the train station.||The staff were polite but initially seemed put out when approached, with no smiles or genuine warmth. They were very young, didn't see any mature staff, which was a shame. The room was clean on the surface, but on closer inspection there were marks and dust bunnies around the bed.||I asked at reception if they had any flannels, as I’d forgotten mine (but remembered my husband’s), and was told, “Oh, we don’t do those anymore because they get stolen.” This meant a trip to the pharmacy at the station and an extra expense, which was inconvenient.||On our last evening, we decided to have some drinks and snacks at the bar before heading up. The service was poor at best. They appeared short-staffed, with the same person running between the kitchen and bar. We waited a long time for our drinks, and a nearby table watching the Liverpool vs Barcelona match even warned us that it had taken them fifteen minutes just to get theirs.||We were also refused fries, with staff saying they were “having a night” (?), which was confusing. As the table next to us had some. We ended up waiting what felt like most of the first half of the match just for our drinks.||That said, when they finally arrived, the drinks themselves were very good.||As for value for money, I’d say the hotel is average. There are several other hotels within walking distance where the service has been impeccable. I probably wouldn’t stay here again and would try another option, as the same basic, average stay could have been achieved elsewhere for around half the price. Outside the hotel there was a work van parked up the whole time making walking on the pavement impossible and having to step into heavy traffic just to get to the entrance.
So much about this hotel makes me want to go back...I was so comfortable, I didn't want to leave cuz I was afraid our next accommodations wouldn't be as nice! The mattress was the most comfortable of any we stayed at in 4 European hotels across 3 countries. The room was super clean, they provided bathrobes and we were told at check-in that the contents of our mini-fridge were complimentary, as was a cookie for each person and an EXTENSIVE breakfast buffet! I'm not sure if the mini-fridge was complimentary because we are Hilton Honors members or due to an option our travel agent chose at booking time for us, but there were sodas, chips and candy in there along with water bottles. All very much appreciated and enjoyed. The hotel breakfast was beyond gorgeous...organized, everything clean, organized and labeled. You could order eggs prepared how you wanted (like an omelet) but we never took advantage of that since there was so much offered. We also went to the hotel pub both nights we were there for dinner. You order at the bar and then the staff bring you your food. It was good and reasonably priced. Comfy seating and plenty of TVs to watch sports.
