About
A woodland walk centred around a dramatic waterfall, with footpaths following the stream through the trees. The main cascade, Aira Force, has viewing platforms at both top and bottom, connected by stepped paths. Red squirrels are sometimes spotted in the area. There are car parks with pay-and-display options, plus free roadside laybys nearby. The route includes bridges crossing the water and leads to viewpoints overlooking Ullswater. A tea room and toilets are available on-site. Sturdy footwear is advised as paths can be slippery, especially after rain. Some visitors leave coins in the water as tokens.

Lovely walk down from and return to The Royal Hotel at Dockray. Took 1.75 hours of very steady - not at all forced pace - walking. Personal opinion is that the whole series of falls is better viewed from the west bank rather than the east, but both enjoyable.
Stunning view and easy to get to. Can easily get a view from the top and the bottom. Toilets are not far. Parking is £5.50 for 2hrs and £7 for 4hrs. There is some laybys along the road where u can park for free if u dont mind a little extra walking.
This is a delightful area, with walks on both sides of the stream, with waterfalls and cascades. It doesn't take long to get to the first waterfall, Aira Force. You need to be mobile as there are steps involved. To lengthen the walk you can do Gowbarrow Fell, this again has your heart beating in places, but the views are exceptional, especially when you see Ullswater. Plenty of parking with the NT, plus there's a cafe.
