Customer Reviews
Cosy little pub with great food, beers and friendly staff. The goulash is incredible. My wife had the buttermilk chicken burger and it was delicious, very tender. Prices are reasonable too. It was super busy on a cold weekday evening in January which tells you something! We waited and got a table near the fire which was nice and warm, but if the place looks full, keep trying because the food and drink is worth it!
Have been twice now, the first was for the goulash and the katsu chicken. Both delicious. This time, we had the sweet chilli chicken and the hot honey chicken burger. The burger was on par with Korean fried chicken, in regards to crunchy coating and juicy chicken fillet. Blooming lovely. Was served by Ru, who I nearly gave a heart attack with, as I am lactose intolerant, and ordering something with dairy in haha, sorry Ru. She is lovely and friendly, a bubbly personality and happy to help. Great visit, thank you
Arrived 15minutes before kitchen closed at 20.00 so we’re really up against it as my partner usually likes to take his time perusing the menu. However, we’ve eaten here before and so it was an easy pick. Atmosphere is the best in Keswick. Never fail to enjoy the relaxed vibe in here. I can’t put my finger on it, but the Dog and Gun has got it, whatever ‘it’ is! Lovely pint of something hazy (he can’t remember) and a Sauvignon Blanc for me. Food. His steak and ale pie with chips and veg looked lovely and by all accounts tasted yummy, nice pastry and good gravy. My halloumi strips on Greek flatbread was a little disappointing. Halloumi was excellent, fries were crispy and dine to perfection. The issue was with the flatbread, I always toast mine, but this one came pale and not warm. There was also a sweet chilli sauce that I wasn’t expecting. Maybe tzatziki as a side? But that aside, we’ll always eat here. It’s the best pub in town!
