About
A country hotel with cottages near Cockermouth, set on a working farm with views of grazing sheep and cows. Some rooms have four-poster beds, and there are standalone cottages with hot tubs. The hotel is often used by wedding parties, with guests appreciating the quiet setting and breakfasts. Walks start directly from the property, with lakes nearby. Scones are served, and the absence of TVs in some rooms adds to the peaceful feel.

Scale Hill Hotel was wonderful for our wedding party. We had half our family guests staying here, and everyone was delighted with their rooms. The accommodation was comfortable, well-presented, and exactly what we needed. Heather was fantastic throughout, helpful, organised, and made sure everything ran smoothly for our group. She was responsive to all our questions and went out of her way to make sure our guests were well looked after. The feedback from our wedding party was unanimously positive. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed their stay and how welcoming the hotel was. It made a real difference having such reliable, quality accommodation for our guests. Would highly recommend Scale Hill Hotel for weddings or group bookings. Great rooms, excellent service, and special thanks to Heather for making it all so easy.
This is the second time we have stayed at Scale Hill and it won't be the last ! |It is a particularly welcoming hotel. We stayed in one of the cottages on both occasions and were delighted at the facilities, From the comfortable lounge, the well equipped kitchen to the lovely bathroom and Four Poster bed , everything was beautifully presented with little extras such as tea and coffee from local providers and lovely bathroom accessories. The hotel itself reflects its history with beautiful antique furniture. art works and ornaments. Particularly special is the excellent freshly cooked breakfast, using local produce. The views are spectacular and it is so convenient for walking Crummock Water and Buttermere. |It's a family run hotel and the staff are very welcoming . It was a pleasure to stay in such beautiful surroundings
