A very comfortable stay in a 300 year old guest house. The breakfast was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. There was secure storage for our bikes too. The bathrooms were shared with two to choose from and it was very quiet. It was very enjoyable, thank you.

The owners are very kind, accepted my last minute booking without any hesitations. They also made me a homemade breakfast. And to top it all, Ann, the lady of the house gave me a lift going to work. Will be back again here. The room and toilet is also clean and well heated.

I stayed for just one night in May as I was working in Whitehaven the next day. Read guest house is centrally located and has parking nearby ( which the owners can give you a pass for). It is clean, well equipped and the owners are very friendly. Generally the decor is a little bit tired but everywhere is spotless. There is one bathroom to every 2 rooms and I didn't have to wait for one to become available at any time. The twin room I stayed in was clean and cool and had plenty of storage space as well as a TV. There was a little bit of traffic noise but that is to be expected at a town centre location and I slept well. | I just had toast but there was a full English on offer if you wanted it, alongside cereal, juice and bottomless tea or coffee. |The breakfast room is also used as a lounge and I'm sure you could have sat with the owners in the evening and chatted if you wished. This is very much a house as well as a B and B so communal parts do look lived in and are not quite as tidy as other parts. Ann was very welcoming and I would definitely stay here again. Good value for money. ||A general tip- Whitehaven is a one way system so I would look up how to get around it before you go as its a bit confusing. Also if you are arriving in the next few weeks, Read Guest House has scaffolding across one wall, no noise while I was there but the scaffold itself obscures the sign so it was hard to locate.
