Stayed here one night for work in January. Very reasonable price. Pub food available, typical prices. Lovely staff. Room large, and warm; the window was high up with a rooftop view and didn't open, which was okay in January but some of the other rooms would have been preferable in summer. Close to Railway station and castle
Stayed here for a couples weekend away, never again! ||I stay in a lot of hotels and this is by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had, mainly due to the amount of noise coming from the bar area until the early hours.||If you’re coming away for a bit of hiking and to get some rest then steer clear. ||If you’re coming for a late night drinking session then you’ll fit right in as they’ll still be serving downstairs up to 2am.||Sound travels from the bar up to the rooms so good luck sleeping. ||If you’re lucky enough to be asleep then don’t worry, one of the staff will come upstairs stand directly outside your door, then proceed to have a full on discussion with one of the other guests they’ve been on the razz with about tomorrows check out and housekeeping requirements.||Made a complaint to the manager in the morning who proceeds to explain that they’re licensed until 1am but clearly don’t shut things down until 2am. Said he’ll give the feedback…to himself, token apology but clearly not interested. ||Again, avoid if you want a good nights rest.
