A traditional pub serving hearty British fare, including steak and ale pie with mash and peas, as well as Sunday roasts. There are real ales on tap and a pool table. Portion sizes vary, with some lighter options available alongside standard meals. The pub occasionally runs meal-and-drink deals. Dogs are welcome, and the space is family-friendly with a children’s menu. The interior is kept clean and tidy.
Customer Reviews
We drove in from our travelodge to take in the footy and have an afternoon tea. The place was busy but being Saturday afternoon and having the footy on this was no suprise.... I ordered the steak and ale pie and the better half ordered the fish and chips - both meals were good value and tasty enough bar meals. The drinks were priced reasonably and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The only real suprise was the footy and Sunderland getting a point against Arsenal...... Well worth a visit.
The main was lovely and tasty, portion of pie could have been bigger, grene king does a bigger one, and ember inns. Mash was very tasty and fresh garden peas. The desserts were a let down, hardly any crumble on the crumble, very light dusting, rhubarb instead of raspberry but was not told. Sticky toffee was tasty but very small, kids portion. Music and atmosphere was perfect. Just a few things to sort and it would be 5 stars.
Staff were pleasant and attentive providing a friendly welcome. The venue was clean, tidy and inviting. The food was delicious, well prepared and presented. Excellent value for money. An enjoyable experience, we will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommended.
