The Chief Justice of the Common Pleas

This isn't my first Wetherspoons, my son also worked in one so I know what goes on in the kitchen and i do realise they're budget food and cheap and cheerful alcohol. I've not had a one as bad as this one. Called in for tea while staying in Lakes for the weekend. It was extremely busy, barely a seat to be had. We found one in between the serving hatch and the disabled toilet. (I don't recommend sitting here if you're looking for a quiet meal) So we assumed if its popular then its going to be nice. Ordered our drinks and food. Drinks arrived and one had to be returned as there was a chip in edge and some kind of sticky substance around the top. The staff member wanted to pour the drink from one glass to another but I declined and asked for a fresh one to be poured. Not sure if they understood why I declined. When our food arrived (i ordered jacket potato with cheese) the cheese which I'm assuming was mozzarella, had moulded itself to the potato it had been under the heat lamp that long i couldn't eat it as it was like chewing rubber.(you would have been impressed with the pull) would much prefer cheddar. I had to ask for butter and used quite alot to revive the potato. The salad was warm and wilted and not very appetising. The curry which was ordered was tasty enough but you can't really mess up a boil in the bag. And the side of chips came looking like they'd holidayed in the Bahamas. I'm putting that down to the oil needing changed or the amount of time spent under the heat lamp as they weren't over cooked. Safe to say we won't be back for food but maybe for a drink 🤷🏼‍♀️🤭

I visited today- Sunday 8th March in the morning, and cannot fault the food or service-but the reason for my review is that I just have to mention how extremely impressed I was to see all the tables and chairs being thoroughly cleaned. This including the table/ chair legs. I am not talking about a quick lick. I have never witnessed such thoroughness in any eating establishment. I was going to speak to the staff member myself but she was not about on my leaving. If the staff member can be identified she needs to be commended. Her own home must be immaculate.

Well Wetherspoons all the way even in posh place stick to reasonable prices ! Outside seating non smoking area ! We all loved who wants to sit indoors in the British summer. Meal deal with any drink with meal including any ale which me and my sister too an age over and they didn’t get annoyed with us. Small and big potions of fish a chips , so we had three small and two big all not greasy good taste and flavour could have been some where expensive for all we know . Perfect meal with family with a pint of quality ale outside five people just over fifty quid . Good service everything cleaned up quickly nice surroundings nice staff willing to help and patient with us even if they all had tattoos and pink hair didn’t matter to us . Excellent experience.
