Fabulous Dining Experience ||We went to The Cottage in the Wood last weekend and it was fabulous. An amazing tasting menu that really made you rethink flavours and food you eat, discovering something you expected to taste sweeter is now earthy due to the combination of other foods with it. |They were excellent with my husband who they were advised was Type 1 diabetic. Changed one of the pre-dinner appetizers from a sweet butter to a parsnip one and offered extra carbs if necessary. |Felt absolutely looked after and the room and setting are lovely.|The staff are absolutely amazing, friendly and engaging and adaptable but also clearly clued up on who is staying and eating here. |Will definitely go back.
A truly memorable visit with several dishes on their tasting menu the best I have ever tasted . So much better than in my experience than other Michelin restaurants in the lakes . We stayed over night in a room with a view of…. Clouds/mist all very grey! Very comfy bed but the bathroom was on t he small size but what do you expect in a 17C building ? Highly recommended not one to be missed
Beautiful place, situated up in the hills surrounded by magnificent countryside and views. The hotel was amazing - from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Superb staff - very attentive and knowledgeable, waiting on our every request. Now to the food - simply fabulous. The tasting menu was outstanding, each course so well presented and described by the waiting staff and paired expertly with the wine menu. Breakfast the following morning was equally as good, all freshly made and plenty of choice. The rooms were cosy and thoughtfully decorated, with attention to detail for sustainability and non waste. Would 100% recommend the Cottage in the Wood. Jack and his team do a fantastic job- so welcoming and a truly amazing experience.
