Keswick is lovely. However we stumbled upon this comfortable looking place in the centre and thought yes. Family friendly it said on their advertising board. Lots to choose from locally and being next to a well known chain we thought always try and use local. I cannot explain how utterly unwelcoming the two ladies running it were. Abrupt, rude, and generally horrible. It felt like we were putting them out. Our waitress scowled at our 3yr old and they just looked furious! I had to take my daughter out as the waitress wouldn't put down our tea and cake until we cleared the table for her. My daughter was colouring at the time. I didn't get to have my tea or cake as I was afraid to go back in. In a town with this much competition I'm astounded at their demeanour. Utterly disgusting!!!

I went here on Sunday morning just before 10am for breakfast. The place was cold, no heating (the server had a fleece jacket, so I'm sure that she was an okay temperature). I asked whether they would do a slice of fried bread with the breakfast (for an extra charge), but the answer was no (why ever not, we were the only people in the place, so not busy and could have made some more money AND probably got a slightly better review) The decor was a bit naff to be honest, with the artex ceiling. I didn't like all of the signs around. We'd obviously finished breakfast and wanted the bill (and at least the table clearing) but the server just kept looking at us, we smiled a few times but eventually had to yell across the place for the bill.... We dare not go to the counter to pay as there was a big sign saying, "Only serving staff at the counter". The food was okay but why would they serve a potato waffle with the breakfast? Also, they need to serve Yorkshire Tea, everyone knows that it's the best.

I wish I’d read the reviews of this place before entering. I ordered the Cajun baguette, wow it was so salty I had to leave it, and for me who never leaves anything on his plate, that is saying something, on mentioning this to a member of staff, she just replied she couldn’t understand why. There is another review from someone stating this. This place doesn’t have any internet either for customers to use. I just paid full price and left never to return again
