Customer Reviews
Been here many times down the decades & glad to see it's still going strong. Usually a first or last port of call from Picadilly Station. Usually a well kept choice of ale in this predominantly football focussed pub. I've always liked the lighting & like the raised seating by the window. On this occasion I went upstairs to the intensely bright sports bar which had an ok pint of Landlord. I tried the large fish & chips (fries) meal which was ok but a bit short on quality & quantity. The highlight was actually the battered sausage. The other downside was no soap in the upstairs toilet.
Where Social Hearts and Football Fans Unite There’s a special kind of magic in a pub that can seamlessly host two different worlds. For me, The Waldorf is where my Wednesday evenings come alive at the Manchester Chess Club social upstairs—a warm, inviting space filled with great games and conversations. Meanwhile, downstairs hums with the excitement of the game on two wide screens, uniting City fans in their support. It’s this wonderful duality that gives The Waldorf its unique character. Its location is a major plus: an easy stroll from the train station and central hubs (though I skip the limited paid parking and take the train). Whether you're here for the football, a social group, or just a reliable city centre pint, The Waldorf delivers with charm.
This is one of them places you can start or end your night or just stay in all day. Very relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of room to sit and watch sports or chat, and it's really close to the train station so shouldn't miss the connection unless you're enjoying yourself too much.
