I discovered this bistro through the Michelin Bib Gourmand list and decided to give it a visit. The food absolutely lived up to expectations, with beautifully prepared dishes that were full of flavor and care. The wine pairing was excellent as well, thoughtfully selected and perfectly matched to the meal. On top of that, the waiters were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a place I’d happily return to.
We visited higher ground for an early Saturday eve dinner to celebrate our first year in our new city: Manchester. Well, this experience confirmed that we don’t need to travel far for fine dining. We had the pleasure of meeting Joe and Richard (co-owners). Joe runs his pass with precision but made time for a friendly chat and let us feel at home. Every staff member we interacted with was present, friendly, and treated us like new friends. We left feeling like we were regulars already! The food was divine. Complex flavours achieved with simple, high quality British ingredients from handpicked local farms. Get a seat at the bar if you can. Best view of the kitchen action. Do pop into Bar Shrimp for a drink before!🍸🦐 Yum yum - we will be back!
Dined at Higher Ground recently. The food was pretty decent overall, with fresh oysters being a highlight. I had higher expectations for the main dishes though, from the scallops to the pasta, which felt a little underwhelming. It wasn’t bad by any means, just not particularly memorable. The kind of food that tends to split opinions around the table rather than win everyone over. Service-wise, the team were friendly and polite, though the pacing could be improved with dishes arriving a bit quicker and in better succession.
