Very upset after a very bad experience with the new person in charge of this centre. Have been hiring this place for over a decade without a problem as we love the location and previous good nature of the staff. This time around we were met with a very rude and discriminatory person. His patronising and Islamaphobic aggression was uncalled for. From the booking process to meeting him at the end of our session he was very intimidating. We were very close to cancelling after he kept changing the contract we had agreed on, adding extra charges and showing an unpleasant attitude. Where have all the lovely, friendly, welcoming staff gone? On every use we pay fully upfront, leave it cleaner than on arrival, clean/disinfect everything thoroughly and clear all the rubbish out. Plus always vacuum up the disgustingly stained carpet before we leave. Will never ever use this hall again!

We’ve been using the Beacon Centre for nearly a decade without any issues. However, recent changes in staff, namely involving Sam Chen, have put us off from booking again in the future. During our most recent visit, Mr. Chen was unexpectedly rude and dismissive. His microaggressions throughout the interaction left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, which was a stark contrast to the positive experiences we’ve had in the past. He initially gave us a verbal quote, which we paid in full. However, he later emailed us requesting additional payment. Then, while we were locking up, he again mentioned charging extra—despite the fact that we had left the hall cleaner and better smelling than when we arrived. Additionally, there was some religious discrimination and islamophobic behaviour displayed which multiple people witnessed. This is absolutely unacceptable and shameful coming from a supposedly "religious" institution. It’s disappointing to see the atmosphere shift so dramatically due to one individual. We hope the management addresses this, as we’ve always valued the Beacon Centre and would love to continue using the space—provided professionalism and respect are restored.
