ISmash Arndale « repaired » my Iphone screen for £149. After a few days the phone stopped working. When I returned to ISmash, the store manager « Dagmar » said that they could not look at the phone within the next few hours (I needed to catch a plane later the same day). He also accused me of water damage and claimed that I would invalidate the ISmash guarantee if I allowed an Apple Store technician to open the Iphone. The store manager argued very strongly that « he was the expert, not the Apple Store ».. Fortunately the Apple Store were able to open up the device within an hour. They reported that ISmash had trapped an internal cable in the casing of the Iphone. This caused the Iphone to break down. They also confirmed that there was no water damage and the faulty repair had caused the phone to stop working. The trapped cable can be seen on the attached photos, taken by the Apple Store technician. He said there could be no doubt that the repair by ISmash was carried out with insufficient care. He also strongly advised me NOT to allow ISmash to reopen the Iphone. After this, I returned again to the ISmash store and showed the manager the photos, only to be told that Apple Store technicians were not permitted to open my Iphone and no refund would be given. I have since been in touch with the ISmash customer service department and the area manager, only to be told that I did not give ISmash the opportunity to open the device. This is simply not true since I repeatedly asked in the store for help and received none. I live abroad and unfortunately have no way of getting the repair money back legally without substanital costs to myself. (I have followed this up with the Citizens Advice Buro in the UK). Therefore, I wish to warn other potential customers to avoid ISmash Arndale, I very much regret not going directly to the Apple Store on the floor above to get my Iphone repaired. Upon my return to Switzerland (my home country) I got the Iphone repaired (along with a replacement screen). The Apple Store technicians in Switzerland confirmed that the ISmash repair had damaged the Iphone. Eventually, I ended up paying £149 to ISmash Arndale plus £350 to the Apple Store Switzerland for the IPhone repair. The Iphone is now working perfectly again with a new screen. It was a very expensive mistake.
Had my sons iPhone 14 Pro repaired here through my mobile phone insurance. The speed and quality of the repair were amazing, phones was repaired, front and back in just a few hours. The phone looks brand new, fantastic service and brilliant quality repairs.
Very poor service and highly incompetent repair work. I brought my iPhone 15 Pro Max to iSmash Manchester Arndale to replace the back glass and the 5x telephoto lens. Apart from the cracked lens glass, the camera itself and sensor were working perfectly. All other cameras were fully functional. The receptionist was genuinely lovely and helpful, so I decided to leave my phone for repair. When I returned to collect it, I was dealt with by a different staff member wearing an “Advanced Technician” badge. The phone looked fine externally with a new back glass and replacement lenses. However, when he demonstrated the camera, there was a black blurry spot covering around 10 percent of the image on the 1x main camera. He claimed this issue was caused by glass fragments from the broken 5x telephoto lens damaging the camera. This explanation made no sense. The 1x main camera and its lens were completely fine before the repair and had never been damaged. Only the 5x lens glass was broken. I explained this clearly and pointed out that the problem was on a different camera module. Despite this, he maintained his explanation, which strongly suggested he either did not understand the camera layout or assumed I wouldn’t. He then asked me to leave the phone for another hour. After that hour, the issue was suddenly gone. All cameras worked perfectly again, which strongly suggests there was dust or debris inside the camera module that had not been checked before sealing the phone. I paid for the repair and left. Four days later, the back glass started lifting and coming away from the phone, meaning it was not properly glued or sealed. I am genuinely shocked by the level of care and competence, especially from someone labelled as an “Advanced Technician”. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this branch to anyone.
