About
This brasserie near Piccadilly is known for its steaks, which are occasionally available with deals. The menu includes dishes like Caesar salad, prawns, and sticky toffee pudding, often paired with cream. Cocktails are also served, and there is an option for afternoon tea with fizz. The venue accommodates dietary needs and can adjust service for those with time constraints, such as catching a train. The atmosphere leans casual, and the staff handle bookings and seating arrangements directly.
Customer Reviews
I was enticed by the offer on the A board which indicated 50% off steaks on a thursday... dont go in for that unless yoi are happy to get a small steak and also buy another course (which wasnt at all clear on the board). The service was quite mixed, I felt like one member of the three aparent staff was being trained the other was completely oblivious that he was serving people (staring elsewhere was landing my soup on the table) the manager was doing well considering but it felt to me lile either the new staff or system needed some more training before they offer a suitable customer experience. The steak was delicous but very small and not what I asked for, the soup was tasty but I suspect it may have been microwaved as it was a mix of warm with some piping hot spots. Overall room for improvement on what could be a very nice place to enjoy a good meal.
For a place that comes across fancy the vibe we got when dining here was quite casual, maybe too casual like pub vibes. Our server who I assume is the manager was quite cold at the start but then realised that’s his personality so got used to it 😆. Anyhow I got the burger and fries for myself which was incredibly hefty, even for me that loves to eat a lot. One downside to this was that the homemade ketchup was sooooo sour I tried to enjoy it but it was just too tart for my liking. My partner got the steak frites which was pretty good. Personally don’t think I’d come again because we paid a premium but didn’t exactly get a premium service and food as felt we could get the same dishes we ordered at other places for cheaper and the place felt very understaffed.
Everything was lovely for myself and three friends for afternoon tea and fizz, from booking directly over the phone, to being shown to our table early and having a drink, being allowed to slightly change the order on the day and the endless supply of tea or coffee, nothing was too much trouble and the waiting staff were polite friendly and accommodating. The booth we had was comfortable and the range of food we had as part of the afternoon tea was delicious and much better than the usual finger sandwiches. I particularly enjoyed the very tasty mini burger and the fried chicken morsel with sweet chilli sauce. I would very much recommend Mal Maison bar and grill and for the price we got it for (on offer 2 for 1 deal) it was a steal! I would definitely go back and do this again. Thank you for helping two of us celebrate our birthdays in style!
