We booked into Roundthorn country house for 1 night bed and breakfast in February 2026. It was lovely and clean with modern but sympatheticly decorated rooms . The staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. We had an evening meal which was delicious. It was definitely value for money. We would highly recommend a stay here. And we intend to return
This hotel rates amongst the best we have stayed in. The receptionist, Wendy, was welcoming and friendly and made sure our room suited our needs. All the staff were very helpful and cheerful including the lovely lady who serviced the room. We stayed in room 4 on a DBB deal. It was spotless and warm with a lovely view over the countryside. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk and a dressing table with mirror over and plugs conveniently placed - so often lacking in hotels. The chair by the dressing table is very low though, I only had a view of the top of my head which is probably just as well!! The bathroom was clean, warm and had a shower over the bath.|We were very impressed with the food, dinner was delicious and it was hot - we had the venison and pheasant stew with crispy cavolo nero and polenta. Their homemade sticky toffee pudding was gorgeous . Breakfast was served to order, which avoids the lukewarm buffet in so many hotels now. The American pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup were delicious. |There are walks from the hotel including Beacon View - turn right at the main road and look for the footpath on the right after a few hundred yards. |Parking is plentiful and there are two electric chargers which take your own cable. |We have recommended Roundthorn to friends who have already booked and we very much look forward to returning in the not too distant future. |Thank you.
This is a really good quality hotel, excellent staff. We were given a free upgrade to an Apartment. Excellent breakfast.
